Back? Maybe?

Wow, I’ve been gone a long time! Would love to start and keep up with a blog one of these days. Never fear, for I haven’t stopped reading. Some of my girlfriends and I actually started up a book club which is a blast. We meet every 6 weeks and our first book was The River of No Return by Bee Ridgeway. I’m on Chapter 33 and will update with a review soon.

Back? Maybe?

Still Here.

I’m still here.

I haven’t been reading a ton of books but have instead been working on George R.R. Martin’s A Game of Thrones. It’s very detailed and descriptive.

I’ve been sick for the last several weeks with something I don’t understand. It’s either awful allergies or I don’t know what but it’s made me irritated and not in much mood for book blogging.

So the point of this blog…let you know I haven’t forgotten Bitchin’ Books. I’m still reading a little.

Contemporary Craziness!

Hey guys!

I know, I know… where the heck have I been? I’ve updated the twitter account a little bit more in the past few weeks than I have the blog. I’ve been on a reading binge and after finishing up the Cut and Run series by Abigail Roux I have been on a contemporary romance fix. I can’t get enough!

And more than that, a m/m fix. Before reading about Ty and Zane (see posts: Cut and Run & Sticks and Stones) I have had my fair share of m/f/m books and even the very occasional m/m/f books but never a romance novel that lacked a female heroine. Well Ty and Zane got me hooked. There is nothing hotter than two sexy, manly alpha men loving on each other and Abigail Roux writes these characters beautifully. It doesn’t matter if you’re familiar with the m/m romance genre or not….please for God’s sake: READ Cut and Run!!! You will be hooked. Fabulous.

Anyway. Enough of my tangent on those books. I finished the entire series in about two weeks and then went through the dreaded book depression. You know, readers. It’s when you find an author you just love…can’t get enough of…staying up all hours of the night just. to. get. to. the. next. page. And then what happens? You devour the author’s entire bookshelf. Afterwards, no book can compare to the ones you just read and you wish you could experience reading them for the first time all over again.

Well that’s what happened with Ty and Zane. So I spent many hours the past couple of weeks reading m/m romance and trying desperately to find an author whose books I loved as much as Roux’s. There were some good ones and bad ones which you’ll see in my preceding blog entries. In between the m/m books I also read some m/m/f and m/f as well.

Readers: have you ever gone through what I call “book depression?” What author have you discovered, gobbled up, and found yourself hungry for more with naught to be found? Let me know so I can share your excitement and then disappointment as it ends.

Love to all and many wishes for more sunshine and less snow for my fellow east coasters.

PS. Three new book review entries posted before this one. Faith and Fidelity. Sinners on Tour series. Fatal Shadows.

Up next? Lexi Blake’s The Dom Who Loved Me & The Men with the Golden Cuffs – Reaper’s Property by Joanna Wylde – Protecting What’s His by Tessa Bailey – Hot Head by Damon Suede – Caught Running by Madeleine Urban and Abigail Roux.

Told you I’d been reading a lot lately!

October News!

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all having a great October. I’m looking forward to Halloween (my favorite holiday) and my birthday this Friday. Woo-hoo! October is definitely one of my favorite times of the year. I just wanted to blog a little bit about me for a change. And less about books. Don’t worry, guys: Bitchin’ Books will never be a personal blog.

That being said, I will be very busy the next month. Never fear, I just can’t see myself staying away from books the entire time. But on Monday the 29th, I start an intense 2 weeks of training after which I will take a licensing exam to become an Insurance Agent… I won’t have as much time for reading, reviewing, etc. But I will still try to make it a great priority.

Okay – business is over. Now for the fun stuff!

I’m super excited for Wild About You, Kerrelyn Sparks’ new novel in the Love At Stake series. It stars Howard Barr, a handsome man who also happens to be a shapeshifting bear. The Love At Stake series is my second favorite vamp-series after Lynsay Sands’ Argeneau vampires so I’m very excited to read it. Wild About You releases on November 27, so don’t forget to pick up your copy!

I also just joined the website Shelfari, which I greatly enjoy. It is a lot more user friendly than goodreads in my opinion, though both have some redeeming qualities. Find me here! (Follow me, I’ll return the favor of course!)

And lastly, I started a very brief and handwritten outline of a new novel that I’ll be working on. Yup, that’s right. I write too! I’ve always had a problem finishing however. I’m really going to try buckling down and writing the crap out of an awesome novel! More to come!!

Everyone have a fab rest of the month and look forward to two more book reviews soon: Legacy of the Witch and Thirty Nights with a Highland Husband.

TBR Shelf: October

Hi everyone!

Hope you’re all enjoying the wonderful fall weather. Over here in CT it has been a bit rainy on and off. Definitely chilly out there today. I thought I would just post a quick update on my to be read shelf. If you’re not aware, I’m participating in the Spooktacular October book challenge this month. It’s not too late to join up, so definitely look into it!

Onward with the post:

Just finished Spellbound Falls by Janet Chapman. Click here for the book review! I also just downloaded the second book in the series, Charmed by His Love. Starting on that one tonight. If all goes well with that one, I’ll probably read the third book in the series, called Courting Carolina.

Also on my to be read shelf is The Unholy by Heather Graham. I actually started this one a few days ago but got too sucked into Spellbound to finish it right away. And then of course there’s The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon and The Unfortunate Miss Fortunes that I’ve previously posted about.

Does anyone have any recommendations for great paranormal romances? (Like I need more on my plate!) What am I talking about, every reader needs more books piling up.

Hope everyone had a great week-end. Back to work tomorrow, gag.

PS. Don’t forget to check out my other blog, Trashy TV!

Trashy TV

Hi everyone! (read as: nobody)

No but seriously. I am trying to get this blog off the ground here. It would be I think a bit more exciting to read and look at if I was any good with web design. I may know my way around a computer, but the internet is an entirely different ballgame.

I’m here for two one reasons! (I had two reasons but this went a bit longer than expected so you shall have to wait for the book themed reason number dos)

Number one and most importantly: I created a new site! A sister site! Another site for nobody to view! Another site for you all to view! Are you excited yet? Are you on the edge of your seat, about to pee your pants, a little drool escaping the corner of your mouth??

Here it is, folks: Trashy TV! ( <—Clickety-click-click…click!)

While books are my one true passion (if I had to give up TV/Reading, it would be TV without hesitation…though I would be quite sad) I love a good television show. If you’ve been reading at all, you are aware that I love being put into a world opposite mine. Fantasy, drama, mystery, comedy, it all intrigues me. And television is the more visual world of reading.

I realize that books and reading may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I like drinking tea and I have more cups for you to have! (er…you get it, right?) Behind Trashy TV! ( <—le gasp! Another clicky click!) there may be yet another blog to emerge revolving around Movies. C’mon, really people, if you’re surprised I enjoy movies then you just aren’t paying attention! The movie blog will mostly be based around reviews and such. We’ll see how/when I create that.

But for now, sit back, grab the remote, and enjoy some Trashy TV!

PS- If you read either of my blogs either occasionally or constantly (preferably constantly) please let me know at least once so I know you’re out there. Then feel free to lurk! Seeing comments from spammers only has saddened me greatly!

PPS- My overuse of parentheses was quite apparent in this post, please forgive.

Where have you gone?

Hey everyone! (uh, slash nobody)

I’m trying to prevail upon this blog and keep writing in it. God knows I keep reading, just sometimes tend to read so much I’d rather not write about it. Just got back from a week’s vacation in DC.

Drums of Autumn: done and done. It was great, really. I’ve enjoyed every book in this series so far and this one was no exception. A little background? Claire’s daughter, Brianna travels back in time to meet her father and visit her mother…and to warn them of a lethal fire which will take place several years later. Roger (Brianna’s love interest) chases her into the past to try to bring her back home to present time. A big twist (and a little bump) changes the gameplan.

I did get about ten pages into The Fiery Cross, book 5 of the series, but decided I needed a little bit of a break from the 18th century. Started The Unfortunate Miss Fortunes last night, which is proving to be a quick and quirky read so far.

Happy Reading!

PS. Will be challenging myself for the year of 2013. Look for more info in future posts!
